GEOCHEMISTRY OF SURFACE SEDIMENTS IN THE TAIXINAN (SOUTHWESTERN TAIWAN) SEA AREA IN THE NORTHEASTERN SOUTH CHINA SEA

Element distribution,corrections and assemblages of surface sediments from Taixinan area in the northeastern South China Sea are studied in the article. The results show that SiO₂ and Al₂O₃ are the most important components in the surface sediments, that element contents change with water depth and granularity, that R fator analysis gives three assemblages which represent fine-grained terrestrial chips, coarse-grained biological materials and fine biological materials, and that genetically surface sediments in the studied area mostly come from continent and secondly from biology.
