THE APPLICATION OF SRME TO HIGH RESOLUTION SEISMIC EXPLORATION IN SHALLOW SEA ENVIRONMENT

  • In order to improve the quality of seismic data for high-resolution seismic exploration in shallow water, effective measures are required to weaken or eliminate various interferences. SRME is a useful tool to eliminate surface related multiples. However, it is not suitable for shallow water areas, as people thought. Our research focuses on the principles of SRME and its possible application to shallow sea environment. The result shows that the stack profile using SRME may get better image in which the base is clear and faults are distinct, and SRME can be used in shallow sea area for high resolution seismic exploration if the origin of multiples is known, even though it is not so effective in the areas where the sea bottom is soft and the sediment is thick.
