REVIEW ON ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF DEEP-SEA MANGANESE NODULE MINING

Manganese nodule mining in deep sea has been on their agendas, and it has been the hot point that how manganese nodule mining affect the environment with the influence range and degree. In this paper, we systematically analyzed and discussed the present research progress concerning the influence of manganese nodule mining on modern sedimentary environment, marine geochemical environment, marine ecological environment, and climate environment, and put forward the unsolved problems presently and the research direction and emphasis and difficulty. This work is of great value of further studying and understanding the impact of human activities on marine environment and climate, and instructive to promoting and enriching the study on environmental impact of deep-sea manganese nodule mining.
