NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF SEDIMENT DYNAMIC PROCESSES FOR MUD AREAS ON THE EAST CHINA SEA CONTINENTAL SHELVES: A REVIEW

  • Numerical simulation is one of the important methods to study sediment dynamic processes without limitation of time and space. In recent decades, numerical models have been widely applied to the study of some key problems concerning muddy deposits on continental shelves, for example, the genetic mechanism, deposition rate calculation, sediment transport and deposition, and ancient sedimentary environment interpretation, etc. In the future, further study will be focused on improving simulation models for the study of spatial and temporal evolution of muddy areas and their interactions with other depositional systems, from the viewpoint of whole continental shelf, which is influenced by various factors.
