THE ELEMENT STRATIGRAPHY OF CORE LH01 IN THE NORTH OF LIAODONG BAY SINCE LATE PLEISTOCENE

  • 14 geochemical index of sediment were analysed for the samples of Core LH01 obtained in the north of Liaodong Bay. According to the interpretation of vertical changes based on the ratio of elements to Al2O3, the ratio of characteristic elements, and grain size, combined with dating and R-mode factor analysis, the core can be divided into 4 layers, reflecting 4 kinds of sedimentary environment, respectively. From 100-889 cm, it is the Late Holocene estuarine coastal deposits; from 889-1 330 cm, the neritic sediment of middle Holocene; from 1 330-1 913 cm, the transitional deposits of early Holocene; and from 1 913-2 455 cm, terrestrial deposits of late Pleistocene. The stratigraphic features reflected by the changes in chemical elements are correlated well with climatic and sea-level changes since Late Pleistocene.
