A STABILITY EVALUATION SYSTEM FOR OFFSHORE ARTIFICIAL ISLANDS

  • A stability evaluation system for artificial islands was established using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, upon the basis of the surrounding engineering geological environment. Thirteen factors were selected as the evaluation index, which were grouped into four categories, i.e.:factors of regional crustal stability (including tectonic features, seismic intensity, and ground subsidence), factors of seabed stability (including topography, liquefaction, and scouring), factors of foundation stability (including bearing strata, engineering soft strata, and buried ancient channels), and factors of marine environment stability (including storm surges, tidal current, wave height, and water depth). AHP method was adopted to weigh those factors. The research results would be useful to the construction of the artificial islands and its safety insurance.
