RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SEDIMENT PARTICLE SIZE AND ORGANIC MATTER: RECENT PROGRESS

  • The preservation and stability of organic matters (OM) in sediments have direct impact on the balance of CO2 in the atmosphere and global climate change. This article describes the preservation mechanism of organic matters in the sediments of different grain size. Based on of the interrelationship between grain size and the preservation potential of organic matters, the relationship between the carbon cycle and the preservation potential of organic matter or the grain size is also discussed.
