THERMOLUMINESCENCE ANOMALY OF A PELAGIC CORE AND ITS RELATION TO PALEOCLIMATE CHANGE

  • In the recent research, it is found that thermoluminescence(TL) intensity may have a good relationship with glacial cycles and sea level changs. The TL intensity may become a new proxy of the paleoclimatic evolution. We compared the TL of the oceanic sediments of the core ODP 758 from the Northeastern Indian Ocean with the content of coarse fraction, the content of CaCO3 and δ18O.we found a positice correlation between TL intensity and the content of CaCO3 and δ18O, a negative correlation between TL intensity and the content of Coarse fraction (>150 μm).
