PRELIMINARY STUDY ON HUMAN INFLUENCE ON SEDIMENTARY ENVIRONMENT OF A BAY

  • In recent decades, human activities have gradually played a significant role in the evolution of a bay along with its economic development, and the sedimentary environment of the bay has undergone changes different from the evolution under natural condition. From the four factors of sediment sources, characteristics, deposition rate and morphological system, combined with the issues emerged from the exploitation of a bay both at home and abroad, the human influence on bay environment was discussed. It was proved that building a variety of constructions and land reclamation within and surround the bay, would gradually change the evolutionary process of the sedimentary system. The issues in an urgent need from the perspective of sedimentology were analyzed according to the demand of the communities. It needs to be strengthened the research on the criteria for evaluation of the evolution, life and stability of a bay.
