STRATIGRAPHY AND SEDIMENTARY CHARACTERS OF THE WESTERN DEPRESSION,NORTH YELLOW SEA BASIN
-
Abstract
There are four depressions and two bulges in the North Yellow Sea Basin. The Western Depression is studied in this paper. Stratigraphy, sedimentary environments and sedimentary facies were studied based on regional geology, wells in Eastern Depression and more than 4 500 km seismic data. There occur three super sequences in the Western Depression, including the upper-Jurassic, lower-Cretaceous, Eocene, Oligocene, Neogene and Quaternary. They are all terrestrial deposits including fluvial, lacustrine and deltaic facies mainly. The total thickness is up to 10 200 metres. There is great petroleum resource potential.
