RESPONSE OF ENVIRONMENTAL SENSITIVE GRAIN SIZE GROUP IN CORE FJ04 FROM MUD AREA IN THE NORTH OF EAST CHINA SEA TO EAST ASIAN WINTER MONSOON EVOLVEMENT

  • The authors get environmental sensitive grain size group in core FJ04 by using grain size-standard deviation method, which proves the selected sensitive grain size group is an important proxy. The mean grain size of this sensitive group can be used to reconstruct the Asian winter monsoon intensity. The reconstruction of the East Asian winter monsoon evolvement since 3 kaBP reveals two main phases.-(1)3~1.15 kaBP,with relative weak intensity and medium frequency fluctuation (2)1.15~0 kaBP,with really strong and high frequency fluctuation. 1.15 kaBP is a distinct point. During the whole period. 11 obvious winter monsoon buildup events were recorded and correlated well with other climate records, but showed different extent response, which proves the consistency of climate change.
