Tectonic controls over mineralization in the Shilipu area of Qixia County

  • Affected by the subduction of Paleo-Pacific plate during Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous, magmatic activities were strong in the Jiaodong area. The research results of the gold deposits in the Qixia county show that the NE-trending faults, such as the Xilin-Douya Fault and Qixia Fault all occur in a sinistral strike-slip pattern. The movements of the faults directly control the shape and occurrence of the ore bodies of gold, for examples the Hushan, Zhuangzi, Shancheng ore deposits in the county. In the Shilipu mining district, the main ore-controlling fault is a thrust of sinistral strike-slip, where 8 gold ore bodies have been discovered. The ores in both the east and west segments of the EW fault belong to the type of a broken-altered rock, and the ore bodies in the middle segment, where is the turning point of fault incline angle from steep to gentle, are dominated by quartz vein type of gold.If it is a thrust, the turning point will be tensile and conductive to mineralization.According to the drilling data and the data from surrounding ore deposits, it is speculated that multiple layers of gold-bearing quartz veins may occur in the region.
