THE DISTRIBUTION OF ECONOMIC MINERALS IN SURFACE SEDIMENTS OFF THE SHANDONG PENINSULA AND ITS ECONOMIC PERSPECTIVE

  • Based on the results of marine sediments in the survey projects of national "908" and Shandong "908", the distribution pattern of detrital minerals of offshore sediments were studied. In addition to marine aggregates off Shandong Peninsula, special attention is paid to the 5 valuable heavy minerals i.e. iron titanium minerals, garnet, zircon, sphene, and tourmaline. Their contents and grades are calculated and anomalies delineated. A total of 18 areas of marine aggregates, 8 anomalies of iron titanium minerals, 6 zircon anomalies, 10 garnet anomalies, 7 sphene anomalies, and 3 tourmaline anomalies have been discovered so far. Finally, 8 potential placer deposits are proposed for further investigation.
