Abstract:
Based on the particle size analysis of 1366 surface sediment samples in the Bohai Sea, seven areas of marine aggregates are defined, including the northern part of Bohai Strait, the Liaodong Shoal, the east coast of Liaodong Bay, the Xingcheng-Suizhong inshore, the Qinhuangdao inshore, Caofeidian and the Laizhou shoal. The total area is about 12800 km
2. According to the heavy minerals of surface sediment samples, compared to the results of previous studies, we studied the provenance of each area of marine aggregates. It is concluded that the aggregates in the northern part of Bohai Strait is formed due to the long-term erosion along the Laotieshan waterway by tidal current. The marine aggregates of Liaodong shoal are from the resedimentation of the materials from Laotieshan watercourse erosion. The others are mainly from local rivers.
