浅地层剖面揭示琼州海峡的形成时代

THE OPENING OF QIONGZHOU STRAIT: EVIDENCE FROM SUB-BOTTOM PROFILES

  • 摘要: 通过对琼州海峡东西口高分辨率浅地层剖面的解释,结合14C年龄数据,分析结果表明:浅地层剖面上的R1反射界面指示琼州海峡的完全开启,其下为海峡完全开启之前的低能海相沉积,表现为一套无层理的相对均一的地层,其上为海峡完全开启之后的潮流三角洲沉积,表现为一套层理发育的进积地层,海峡贯通前后,底流发生剧烈变化,导致该界面上下地层沉积结构明显不同;琼州海峡完全开启的时代为距今8 000a左右,归因于该区的全新世海侵。

     

    Abstract: The interpretation and analysis of the high-resolution sub-bottom profiles and 14C dating data reveal that:1) The R1 reflector on the sub-bottom profile represents the opening of the Qiongzhou Strait. The strata underlying the R1 surface is a set of low-energy marine deposits which is homogeneous without bedding, while the overlying strata is a tidal delta which is a prograding depositional unit with bedding well developed. When the strait was completely open, bottom current strengthened sharply and led to the clearly different structure between the overlying and underlying depositional unit of the R1 surface. 2) The Qiongzhou Strait ended opening about 8000a ago, when Holocene transgression happened in this area.
